WELCOME TO THE SOBER SERVICE STATION!!

Below are links to service opportunities based on interests and/or suggested sobriety time. Service keeps us sober.

None of us would be here today if somebody hadn't taken time to explain things to us, to give us a little pat on the back, to take us to a meeting or two, to do numerous little kind and thoughtful acts in our behalf. So let us never get such a degree of smug complacency that we're not willing to extend, or attempt to extend, to our less fortunate brothers that help which has been so beneficial to us.” — Dr. Bob’s Final Address

Consistent with our Ninth Tradition, much of the work done below the group level is done by boards or committees directly responsible to those they serve. Standing Committees are considered permanent, and their scope and purpose are outlined in by-laws. By contrast, Ad-Hoc committees are temporary and are usually created for a limited purpose or duration of time.

As explained primarily in Chapter 7 in the A.A. Service Manual, at the General Service Conference (bottom of the Triangle) there are several committees that deal directly with service that is done at the local level. These include Agenda, Cooperation with the Professional Community (C.P.C.), Corrections, Grapevine and La Vina, Literature, Public Information, Treatment and Accessibility, and Archives.

Similarly, South East New York (SENY), our Area through its Service Manual and Bylaws, expressly created its committees (many of which correspond to the General Service Conference) as well as some unique to the Area, These include Cooperation with the Professional Community (C.P.C.), Corrections, Grapevine and La Vina, Literature, Public Information, Treatment and Accessibility, Archives, SENY Convention, The Link, Service Sponsorship, and Technology.

Manhattan General Service, our county, also has committees that work with other entities within the AA infrastructure, specific Manhattan committees, as well as short-term planning committees. Our Area Newsletter, The Link, which keeps us all connected often posts links about service opportunities and positions in other counties within SENY.
