What is the District and why do we need it?

The District is a service body made up of all the groups in a given area; it’s a part of the A.A. general service structure. It is a vital link between the group and its area, and A.A. as a whole. It can do service work to help the still suffering alcoholic that the individual or the group alone may not have the resources to do.
